We are starting out this week just like we ended last week - fog, drizzle and light rain off and on all day long. We did not walk with Denise this morning because it started to rain, but later when we walked to the store it wasn't. By night fall it was perfectly beautiful in that Portland was bright and crisp whereas most of the day we couldn't even see it. As for Mom and Dad they pretty much puttered around all day.
Tuesday, would you believe we woke up to fog and stuff in the morning. It cleared up around noon and then it was a beautiful day. Mom got lots of cleaning and general picking up done and Dad finally got the lawn mowed. And that was about the excitement for the day.
Same old crummy weather on Wednesday. We had to go to town to replenish and anyway it was market day. We were off on the 0815 boat in the fog and overcast day. We spent an hour at the farmer's market buying mostly misc. plants for the garden and a couple tomato plans, then to Broadway Nursery, Coast Guard Exchange, Wal-Mart (we know Dad doesn't do Wal-Mart) Sears, Chinese for lunch, BJ's and Kohl's. Enough of a day. We came back on the 1630 boat after suffering through drizzle and rain all day long. No raincoats either. We didn't have room to bring everything back, but we will be off to town again tomorrow.
Big plans for Thursday with Dad off on the 0715 boat to get the van inspected.. Mom planned to come in later and then we were going to pick up Paul and Casey. That all got changed because of flight problems and they ended up driving from Boston, winding their way down to the ferry where they caught the 1630 boat. They were 2 tired puppies. Oh yes, did I say we woke up to fog this morning? Anyway, Dad got the car inspected, went to the hardware store, stopped by Tony's donuts, the bank, grocery store, Lowe's, Home Depot and BJ's before catching the 1215 back to Peaks. We did eat on the porch for supper and the mosquitos weren't too bad. This is the worst year for them we can remember.
If anyone thinks we started out with fog again this morning, they are correct. After raining last night we started with fog, damp and humid weather, really lousy. It did clear up later on and we had a beautiful day. Paul and Casey proceeded to install that little tiny Apple computer they had brought us and they also loaded our DSL which we transferred here from home. We may end up both the PC and Apple hooked up if our 2 local in house experts can work it out. They Apple is neat, but is sure is different from the rest of the world as we know it. We did go up and buy some delicious lobster, the first of the season, for supper. Excellent! Later on it was Liverpool that Dad somehow won.
The weather has finally taken a change for the better and Saturday turned out to be a beautiful day. Paul and Casey walked around the island and Mom & Dad only managed to go up to St. Christopher's fair with a cake and a short look arund. We couldn't get into it, but we did stop at a yard sale. We decided we already have more stuff than we need or have room for. We did visit Marge and waondered up to the store. Tonight, after supper, we had instructions on the new computer and how to take pictures off our camera and even how to send them. Dad gets quizzed on it tomorrow.
Sunday and we, Mom and Dad, were off to 0815 Mass after which we came back and cooked our usual Sunday morning breakfast. The Lion's club also had a breakfast, but we chose not to go. Unusual for us. Paul and Casey took off for town coming back on the 1735 boat with a new printer for the computer which is now all hooked up and working. They still have a few loose ends to clear up besides some instruction for us. Mom got some in the evening, but Dad fell asleep on the bed. While we were picking them up we ran into Dong and he had come down with a gift for us, eight solar lights for the garden. He followed us home and we put them in. He is too much. After it got dark we got to see them in operation and they are really neat. We did find out the transfer station for the car ferry died again so Plante has been taking cars back and forth while the car ferry was being used as just a people ferry.
That is about it for this week, or last week.
Love, Mom and Dad
