Mom and Dad were up and at 'em first thing this morning, Monday, to go walking with Denise and her senior walking group. You should remember her from last year. Other than that it was a hang out day. For supper Stephen and Sarah took us all out to the Peaks Island House (next to the parking lot) where we ate out on the deck under a new canopy they having done away with their blowing umbrellas. We had good food and a delightful time. Tuesday was pretty busy. Sephen did some tree trimming (maple in front of the porch), one hedge, and Dad did some lawn mowing before Mom, Dad and Patrick headed to a Sea Dogs game. We were just about to go up into the stands with some snacks when the skies opened up and it poured for about 10 minutes. After that it was fine until about the 6th inning when it started to sprinkle from some very dark clouds overhead. The sprinkles kept getting heavier, so a decision was made to leave at 2040 to catch the 2115 boat. We managed to get to the parking lot near the ferry before the skies opened up again and lightening seemed to be everywhere with just a bit of thunder. Yes, we did get a bit damp, but we managed to get to the ferry terminal at 2100 in plenty ot time to catch the boat. If we were in Fairfax there is no way we could have gone the distance from the ball field to the boat in the short time it took us. Stephen pick us up at the ferry and although somewhat damp we were none the worse for wear.
Come hell or high water, Wednesday is market day, farmer's market that is. Today was our first real chance to go and go we did, all of us. It became somewhat complicated because we inadvertently discovered that Aunt Jeanne and Uncle Dick were going to arrive to pick up their car and planned to have lunch with us. We thought we had solved the problem by leaving them a personal message on our answering machine. For whatever reason, they didn't understand the message so they came, had lunch, picked up the car and headed up to their lake. As for us we had a good time at the market, lots and lots of very pretty flowers (plants) and we bought a bunch to bring back to the island. Then it was off to Two Lights for lunch at the Lobster Shack where a good time was had by all. From there it was off to the Portland Head Light following by a trip to Mom's Bug Light. These were photo ops for our two competing photographers, Stephen and Patrick. We caught the 1735 boat back to Peaks. It turned out to be a rather long and tiring, but fun day for us all.
Thursday Mom and Dad did their walk thing with Denise after which they took it easy after yesterday's busy day. We had light showers in the afternoon. Regrettably, Stephen and crew caught the 1945 ferry to head for home. We are always sorry to have people leave.
Friday we woke up to fog as was the case on Saturday and Sunday. Sorry Patrick, It was followed by a downpour, but by afternoon it was just fine. Dong called and came by just before lunch with a big pile of egg rolls that, you guessed it, his sister made for us. What a delicious lunch! The rest of the day was work around the house, laundry, garden, planters and a few misc. things at the 5th Maine. Lots of rain at night, just the peaceful type. The fog hung around all day ranging from heavy to light. Mom and Millie checked out the Peaks Fest this afternoon while Dad hung out around the house catching up on things. The highlight of the day was when Mom came home with fresh Kettle Corn.
Sunday, after drying off the golf cart, Mom and Dad headed for 0815 Mass followed by a trip to the 5th Maine for pancake breakfast with Millie. I think they had a record crowd, but the whole thing was not as good as those last year. We will do better next time. After breakfast we went with Millie to visit her daughter's house and then over to Millie's house. Another busy and fun morning. Just misc. stuff this afternoon, Mom getting the rest of her plants planted and Dad to the 5th Maine. Then it was steak for supper and now it is time for bed.
Love, Mom and Dad
