If you look at the hour of this report you will see it is late. I just finished typing the happenings for the week and somehow lost it all, soooooo I will try again later today (during daylight).

I didn't quite make it during daylight, but here goes again. Monday was a cool overcast day, but nice. The best Dad could do was lubricate the golf cart and docent at the 5th while Mom cleaned and vacuumed. Olympics at night then off to bed late.

Tuesday was another cool, but nice day. Mom worked hard all day cleaning and laundry. Dad accomplished a few things, some that mattered and some that didn't and none that anyone would ever notice. We did go out to eat at the B&B where we both had a haddock dinner which was OK, but not up to what we have become accustomed to.

Wednesday we were off on the 0915 boat to meet Jeanne and Dick at the Market followed by their (Mom and Jeanne) haircuts in South Portland. Dad picked up a few things at the hardware store during haircut time. Then we went to Captain Newarks for lunch where Mom and Dad both had fish and chips which was good, but again not as good as we get in Brunswick. After lunch, now the middle of the afternoon, we took off for BJ's and Shaws to get some food for the next group. We managed to accomplish what we needed to do and caught the 1735 boat. In the mail we had a Happy Anniversary card from the White House. Very nice and thanks to whoever sent in our names.

On Thursday Mom washed floors and Dad fixed things at the 5th, did some painting and started fixing the laundry room windows. What a mess they are. The 5th had its annual meeting and although Dad had planned to give up his career there he stayed on the Board of Directors, but gave up his position as Vice-president to the one we have selected to become president next year.

Stephen et al (less Andrew and Casco, but plus Hunter, Patrick's friend) arrived on the 1015, Friday. A relatively peaceful day with a tired group, They did manage a trip around the island in the golf cart and they accumulated lots of sea glass from the beach. Rain arrived around supper time.

Saturday the rains came like they do only a few time a year. We had a thunderstorm before daybreak and the rain continued from hard to harder most of the day with another thunderstorm bringing up the end. We did watch a spectacular part of the storm approaching from Portland. Very impressive with high winds and the rain going horizontally and very very hard. It even rained against the stained glass window above the picture window. Dad did manage to BBQ in the light rain and we did have a sunset. The greatest thing of the day was our printer is now back in operation. We uninstalled and reinstalled and Stephen did all sorts of things which I don't some close to understanding. Then he fooled with the cable and evidently there is something wrong there because the printer suddenly decided that perhaps it could work after all. Now we have the cable draped over the top of the printer and don't dare move it until Dad gets another one this week.

Everyone trooped off to Sunday Mass at the usual 0815 and then it was home to Dad's usual Sunday morning breakfast. We caught the 1245 boat to go to the Balloon Festival in Lewiston. Dad made a couple wrong turns and at one point we were headed back to Portland on the Turnpike, but we eventually got turned around and found our way with no further problems. We met up with Aunt Jeanne and Uncle Dick and wondered around seeing what happened to be going on and eating "stuff." Around 1800 they started launching balloons and suddenly they were everywhere. I counted a total of 25, but I would never bet on the accuracy of that count. It was fun and I think everyone had a good time and were pretty well pooped by the time we caught the 2115 boat. We also stopped at the grocery and Tony's Donuts on our way back. We were lucky in that both places were going to close shortly. We got home and had popcorn and stuff before collapsing into bed. Dad did stay up until 0030 preparing this message, but when he lost it and after some cursing he also collapsed into bed.

That is it from up north this week.
