It is getting cooler, but no heat yet although tomorrow morning it might be
since to take the chill off. Monday we just worked around the house, Mom
cleaned and I did some door painting. Tuesday we were off to the commissary on the
0815 to get restocked. We spent quite awhile at L.L.Bean and Mom did real
well getting some clothes. Then we went to the Navy Exchange, stopped at Subway
for lunch, then to the commissary, followed by the Dairy Queen and caught the
1630 boat home. The day went real well, but we didn't finish all our chores.
Wednesday started with some 5th Maine stuff and Dong my contractor.
We put off going to town until tomorrow. I ended up mowing the lawn and doing
a few misc. odd jobs. Mom worked on the burial mound and went to the clinic
for her ear that is still giving her trouble. I have problems with my teeth
(now missing 2 caps) and Mom has problems with her right ear.
On Thursday we were off to town on the 0815. I took the golf
cart and baskets up to the parking lot before 0700. I did the same thing on
Tuesday. Then we were off to CVS for Mom's prescription, bank for a deposit,
Staples (no luck), Office Max where we got what we wanted and more, Walmart for
frames, JoAnn's Fabrics for thread, located where Club Car golf carts is moving
to on Warren Ave., BJ's for gas, film, food, etc., Home Depot for supplies,
lunch at the Public Market, Hanniford's for more food supplies and finally
caught the 1515 boat home. Didn't do much else today although I did got o the 5th
to see how Dong was doing on the upstairs "new" porch, waterside.
Friday we were up early to get ready for company. I did manage to
rescreen the front screened door and vacuum the basement. I was off to play
docent at the 5th for the afternoon. I trimmed a chestnut tree there and loaded
it all on the golf cart. I looked like a camouflaged vehicle. Tim & Diane
were here when I got home after 1700. They brought haddock down and Mom fixed
her usual great baked haddock. We played Liverpool in the evening - Mom won!
Saturday was a nice day, if anything a bit on the cool side. Dong
arrived in the morning with a huge pile of fresh spring rolls his sister had made
this very morning. We had those for lunch. Later when Aunt Jeanne & Uncle
Dick arrived they had what was left. T&D took us out to dinner at the Cockeyed
Gull and then we played Liverpool until 2300.
On Sunday we made everyone get up early for the 0815 Mass which was
being said for John's father. Then we walked over to the 5th for their pancake
breakfast which we proceeded to take up on the porch to eat. Not what is
usually done, but something we are thinking about for next year. This was our
first really successful pancake breakfast this year, we ran out of food. This has
been a poor year for all the organizations and some have decided to cancel
breakfasts. Jeanne forgot her medicine so Dick and I took off on the 1245 to
get it up at the lake. On arrival we found she had already left a message on the
answering machine for other things to bring back. We ran a few errands also
and ended up bringing back a whole bunch of stuff. I goofed and hadn't taken
the carts or even a canvas bag. More Liverpool tonight (Dick won). Just the 4
of us because T&D were off to town to dinner and a comedy club.
With that it is time to go to bed. Love, Mom and Dad
PS. Has anyone mowed the lawn who hasn't received a sweat shirt? We must
know as soon as possible as time is running out.
