Yes, I did it again. I am a day late. All of a sudden last night I realized that access to the computer was limited because we are using the extra bed in our bedroom. Let me start by saying that except for those of us who do not live in San Francisco or on the coast of Maine that the temperature this morning was a cool 62 and as I type at 1000 it is now a warm 68, but we still have sweat shirts on.
The week has been a bit on the warm side (hot, so to speak, humid and sweaty if one is doing any work) and most days started with fog sometimes so dense that we would not see the boats moored out in front. Monday and Tuesday were just lazy days and although we did housekeeping, both inside and out, we mostly relaxed. We did watch the Soap during lunch, but we are so far behind that we have no idea what is going on.
Wednesday was our usual day in town. We net Aunt Jeanne and Uncle Dick so Mom and Aunt Jeanne (M&J) walked up to the market while Dad and Uncle Dick went shopping with Dad's usual long list of thing to get, like mostly hardware store type stuff. We picked up M&J at the appointed hour to take them over for haircuts, had lunch at the Saltwater Grill in South Portland and then headed home where Mom and Dad promptly fell asleep watching the news. Thursday was rather routine with Mom concentrating on the garden until it got too hot and Dad was mostly involved with things at the 5th Maine.
We were off to town at 0815 Friday to pick up various things we had run short of. Hot day in Portland so we managed to catch the 1215 back. Much cooler on the island and so far it has always cooled off at night. As yet, NO FAN DAYS. Regrettably, we bought a few plants on sale only to leave them in the car to be cremated. We thought of going back to rescue them, but a single ferry ticket would have most more than the plants did so they were sacrificed.
Peaceful Saturday on the island. The "Club" had their Fair which we went to, but we really weren't interested so we came home, had lunch and worked around the house. Sunday it was Mass at 0815 followed by breakfast at the Lions Club where we also took Millie and Diana. The Lions put on a rather nice breakfast. We went to two open houses, one very nice and the other pretty much a dump. Much to our surprise Pamela and Christian showed up on the 1515 boat
Not a particularly exciting week, but it was a very pleasant one.
Love, Mom and Dad
