Another week has started and we got organized for repairs, including gluing in my front tooth cap, arranging for a visit to my friendly cardiologist and finding out where to take our brand new hedge trimmers for repair. Not bad for a Monday. Then I didn't realize I was docent for 4 hours today so I was an hour late. The big happening of the day was the arrival of Diane, Lauren, Peter, Timothy and Shamus so now we have a house full again.
Tuesday Mom and I were off on the 0815 boat to finish running errands, take our new hedge trimmer in for repair (one of the switches doesn't work) and to pick up the remaining groceries we left in the car. Amazingly enough we accomplished all our appointed tasks and caught the 1215 back to Peaks with twice as much stuff as we had left in the car. While we were gone Diane, Lauren and Shamus walked around the island. The Diane and Shamus part has almost been a daily routine. About supper time we had a rip roaring thunderstorm so our hot dogs and hamburgers were delayed a bit.
Farmer's market day, Wednesday, for Mom, Dad and Lauren. The others did their thing around the island. Quite uneventful. We went to the market, but parted company afterwards. They worked their way back to the 1415 boat and Dad was off to a very fancy and very expensive dentist to get his cap glued on again and then to the 1515 boat. Baked haddock for supper, very good as usual.
Thursday was a quiet day in that we didn't do too much. Sandi, a friend of Diane's and her two children dropped by on their way back to Fairfax from Canada. I gave her an abbreviated tour of the island, only took an hour.
Friday was another rather quiet day for the end of the "work" week. Getting ready for a busy weekend I guess. Mom did a ton of laundry and I spent an hour or so trimming the apple tree by the street so I can see up the street from the back porch.
Saturday is yard sale day and the usual disappointments for Mom and Diane, although between them and the fair at the so called "Club" a few things found their way home. Diane went off to pick up Pete at the airport and they came back on the 2230 boat. Peter and I hauled BBQ's to the 5th Maine for the Art on the Porch on Sunday plus we fixed a couple door problems.
Sunday turned out to be a busy, busy day. Dad, Pete and Peter were out of the house by 0700 to go to the 5th Maine to help set up for Art on the Porch. Pete and Peter lugged most of the tables up to the porch and there are 20 of them. Dad got things ready to cook hot-dogs and hamburgers. When we got things under control we headed off to meet Mom and the rest of the crew outside church. Then we were off to the Lions Club for breakfast after which we stopped at home and then Dad, Pete and Peter were taken up to the 5th to continue their work which lasted until everything was picked up and put away around 1530. In the afternoon Timothy stayed with the 5th Maine crew and Mom, Diane and Lauren went into town to the Christmas Tree Store. We finally all got back together by 1800 and yes we had hot-dogs and hamburgers for supper. The hamburgers were left over from the 5th Maine and they are undoubtedly the best on the island. When we finally got home Dad was pooped, but not so with Pete and Peter who proceeded to cut back the lilac bush by the porch and then trim the hedges. I was tired just watching them. It is now 2200 and I think everyone who isn't already in bed is ready to be there.
And that is the week that was.
Love, Mom and Dad.
