(June 3rd update and June 10th update added on June 10th. ed)
Here we are starting on the 4th and have concluded that the island is going to sink under the weight of all the cars and people arriving. Today was also Clam Shell Race day. Dad did some docent duty at the 5th. Dad, Uncle Dick and Glenn toured the island (a long trip) and we all made and decorated our annual 4th of July cake followed by hamburgers & hot dogs. Millie came over to watch the fireworks with us on the front porch. They were the best we have ever seen here. Really fantastic.
Glenn left today, Tuesday. Dad was docent at the 5th for a couple hours assisted by Uncle Dick. Mom and Aunt Jeanne got the Pineapple Room ready for the next company. Liverpool in the evening concluded the day. Rain, fog & drizzle started Wednesday. Aunt Jeanne and Uncle Dick left on the 1045 boat and we went along because this is market day. We hoped to get the computer back, but no such luck. We did get fish & chips for lunch and did some grocery shopping. We caught a very crowed 1630 back to the island.
Thursday brought Cindy, Maggie, Elizabeth, Joe and Lucky on the 1415 ferry so the B&B is filled to capacity again. We managed to get the house in fairly good shape and finally had enough decent weather to mow the lawn around the burial mound. That part of the yard was fast becoming a hay field.
Dad was up bright and early on Friday to catch the 0815 boat to get some things we had missed a couple days ago and get the computer promised for today. It was another drizzly day, The computer store opened late snd the guy reprogramming it had to finish adding some programs, newer than our old computer had, and wiping out old stuff no longer needed. I got out of the store on Exchange Street at noon, drove to the parking lot, loaded the cart and managed to catch the 1215 ferry. Dad had lots of trouble with the computer, as we still are, but that is a whole story in itself. Then it was off to haul BBQs for Saturday's 5th Maine Fair.
On Saturday, Mom and Dad were off to the Fair at 0930. We worked pretty much all day long, Mom on the gift table and Dad cooking hamburgers and hot dogs. We finished about 1700, but that included cleanup, taking grills back and things like that. We also put the kids to work at various times. Sunday was Mass as usual at 0815 followed by breakfast at the Lions Club which is always good, perhaps not as good as the one Dad puts out, but still good and certainly much easier. It was also lobster night for us and we did do some touring in the golf cart.
Now we are only a week behind assuming I can get on line to send this. This labor saving device called a computer is going to do us, Mom and Dad, in I think.
More another day.
Love, Dad
