Island Update Ending July 1, 2007

Monday started out with company, in that Aunt Jeanne and Uncle Dick arrived. We picked them up at the airport, plane was late, and brought them out to the island. We did do some grocery shopping before and after picking them up. We also had lunch at Susan's, the other half of a garage. Dad has trouble getting Mom to go there, but succeeds perhaps once a year. Anyway, we all had fish and chips. Dad doesn't think they were too impressed with the place, perhaps not up to their standards, but he liked it and Mom puts up with it once in awhile. As she would say there is just no accounting for some people's taste.

They left on Tuesday on the 1445 ferry we think, our first hot day, 93 in Portland, They were also here to pick up their car stored on the island in our parking lot. There was a nice breeze all day and throughout the night so it was still good sleeping weather. It was another hot day on Wednesday, 94 in Portland. That is our day to go to town, but we decided not too. We did drop stuff off at St. Christopher's for their Saturday Fair. Dad worked off and on with Dong at the 5th. We did have a nice breeze again so sleeping was no problem. Although we have had two hot days we have had no fan days.

The rest of the week was taken up with Mom helping get ready for the Fair and then spending all day Saturday working at the Fair. Yes, she did manage to pick up a few things. As for Dad he helped Dong at the 5th and then spent parts of two days as a Docent. We did break down and get some garden plants at our island nursery. Mom was getting desperate to get some plants in before we wouldn't be able to find any and this problem sometimes happens. Dad started doing some hedge trimming and Mom spend quite some time getting her plantings in order.

We are slowly getting the place in order, but already the 4th of July is only a couple days away and we are hardly ready for that.

That is about it for up here in the north country.

Love, Mom and Dad
