Monday was a cold, drizzly, overcast day. Not great like yesterday. We did manage to have lobster, hard-shell and very expensive. An interesting thing was 2 of them were starting to get their new shell inside their hard shell. It was as though the lobster meat had a glove on it. Once I got to the meat it was delicious, even the tail was tender. In all these years we have never seen something like this.
Tuesday we had a big bowl of lobster meat for lobster rolls for lunch and the entire thing got devoured. We had some very hungry company. Dick & I caught the 0815 so I could get our parking permit and make the van legal until the end of September. The Hawes clan departed on the 1245 so this PM Pam vacuumed up the dog hair, I went to the 5th Maine to docent and Mom & Christian worked in the garden. He did a great job with the weeding. I played docent both yesterday and today for just a couple of hours. Monday is my real day. Besides the shower valve acting up (won't turn off) the ice maker valve in the basement let go and was shooting water all over the place. Nothing I did would stop it until I turned it off at which point it just sort of dribbled.
Wednesday we were all off to town on the 0945, mainly to go to the Farmer's Market and to get Christian a real haircut at a barber shop vice beauty parlor. We succeeded with both. When we got back the shower was fixed as was the valve (new real valve) for the ice maker. Now we have to have Paul adjust for a little more water pressure.
More rain, drizzle and fog all day long on Thursday. Worked at trying to clean up my desk, took some stuff to the 5th Maine for the Fair on Saturday and Mom, Christian and I bought some top soil and some Cow Doo for the burial mound.
On Friday we had a super thunder and lightening storm at about 1230 in the morning. The day started out overcast & rainy, but eventually cleared up and turned into a nice day. Got things ready to cook on Saturday at the 5th, like hauling BBQs etc. Mom worked at getting the white elephant or whatever table ready to go. No small task since it runs the entire length of the hall.
Saturday was a busy, busy day. Mom and I were at the 5th Maine for the Fair around 0930 or so. Mom manned the tables inside and I was cooking. We of course had to get things ready at the cooking end, but we (3 of us) were well underway by 1130 and never slowed down for 3 hours. What a job for a bunch of old men, I being in the middle. We sold 144 hamburgers and who knows how many hot dogs. Pam & Christian were up there for most of the time. Amazingly enough by 1700 everything was put away and you would never have known anything had been going on all day. Mom and I were pretty pooped by the time the day was over.
Church day again, 0815 Mass. Another nice day although perhaps a bit on the chilly side. We had our usual Sunday morning breakfast followed by watching This Week on TV. Mom finished her work in the garden although we know this is a never ending job for her. As for me I finally gave the maple that spoils our view a crew cut, mowed part of the lawn, trimmed one hedge and worked on part of the porch furniture. Pretty exciting day on Peaks I would say.
That is about it for this week. I think we have a very busy week coming up.
Love, Mom & Dad
