With any luck perhaps I will get caught up tonight. We started out the week by Mom and Dad going to the senior lunch at the 5th Maine while the Cindy Clan trimmed all the hedges. What a difference that makes, they were getting a bit shabby. It was also a very hot day although it didn't quite make it 90, only 89. There was also a strong wind all day which makes most any hot day not to bad.
We all caught the 0945 boat to go up the Brunswick for lunch on Tuesday. We first toured the Navy Housing where Cindy et al used to live, checked out the schools where the kids went, checked out the main drag (Maine Street) in Brunswick (same as before) and had lunch at the Bowdin Mill over looking the river. Then it was off to the Worunda Mill outlet in Lisbon Falls. After a couple more stops we caught the 1630 ferry back to Peaks.
Wednesday we were off again on the 0945, this time just to mossy around Portland checking out shops etc. Also, this was market day when we most always go to town. Elizabeth didn't go, she stayed home with Lucky. This was also hot dog day at the market and just watching the people. Really quite fun. We came back on the 1515 boat, much calmer than the next 2 boats. Dad went to a lecture on restoration at night which was fairly interesting. Thursday turned out to be a rather routine day although it did start raining in the middle of the afternoon. We decided to look for Maggie and Joe who were walking around the island and we did hear thunder once. We found them all wet and just as happy as could be walking in the rain. They declined our offer of a ride. At night we managed to get in a game of Tripoli.
As you might suspect, on Friday, Cindy and the crew were off on the 0615 ferry heading for home. After they left we got coffee and headed home for breakfast. We puttered around the house all day occasionally sitting down and falling asleep. Dad was trying to catch up on the mail when he suddenly realized he was supposed to be docent at the 5th so ended up being on hour late. A little Spite and Malice before supper and a visit from Dong after supper pretty much completed the day for us.
Saturday was a very routine day. Not much happening even on the island. Mom went wild in the garden and Dad mowed all except the back yard around the burial mound. Sunday turned out to be another rather routine day. Mass at 0815 followed by Dad's breakfast. Dad did finish painting the front porch as well as the front stairs while mom did more gardening, cleaning and washing. Not too exciting for her, but all things that must be done. Although we seemed to be busy all day you might say this was just a lazy day in July.
Now I think I am caught up.
Love, Mom and Dad
