Island Update Ending July 20, 2002

Weather: High 83 one day, the rest of the time in the low 70s. Lows in the low 60s. Misc little showers, but one terrific thunderstorm at about 0230 Thursday night. (Technically Friday morning) Lots of lightening and thunder that shook the house. At one point there was a bolt of lightening and thunder right together that seemed like it was right outside the upstairs porch. That was startling enough, but it turned on the television on the porch at top volume. Lauren who sleeps in our room was sleeping through the storm, but the TV woke her up. Explanation please!

This week we all went to a ball game which the Sea Dogs lost. That was Tuesday night. On Wednesday Peter and I stayed on the island while the rest went shopping in town. That was also the day a mechanic came down from Lewiston where we bought the golf cart and in half an hour it was fixed. The started/generator had burned up and he was smart enough to bring one with him. I have no idea what that will cost. On Thursday we went to the lake (Hawes's) and on the way picked up a few items I needed to fix things and visited a place run by the state that has animals native to the state. They take in injured animals, abandoned ones and ones that people have tried to raise so aren't suitable for release in the wild. They had 3 black bears and a couple moose among other species. Very clean and well maintained. Refrigerator still frosting up, but most of the dryer timer cycles are working.

That, I think, is about the news for the mement. Love, Dad
