Yes, this is late. It seems as though yesterday got away from us and all of a sudden it was late and we were pooped out so off to bed we went.
The week started with more house painting, but unfortunately rain set in again. Mom and Dad did manage to get things all put back together before Cindy, John, Erin, Lauren and Sadie (dog) arrived on the 1535 boat. Tuesday brought fog and drizzle, but there was a radical improvement in the afternoon. The crew went to Freeport and Brunswick coming back on the 1735. Dad caught the 1145, back on the 1415, to get Haddock. Mom dog sat. Dong arrived in the late morning and painted in the afternoon.
Wednesday, as most always, we were off to town on the 0945 headed for the farmer's market which we eventually accomplished. Hot dogs for lunch followed by ice cream on our way back to our parking lot to get the car. Had to drive over to get a prescription and some lobsters. Accomplished both. Dad and John got dropped off to catch the 1415 boat with the lobsters while the rest headed for the Christmas Tree Store. They caught the 1630 boat after which we cooked and ate some delicious lobsters, first of the season. No matter what, they are always delicious the first time.
Thursday was a rather warm day. Mom and Dad went to tea and later we all went to a Sea Dogs game. Great seats with a nice cool breeze and on top of it all the Sea Dogs won. Came home on the 2230 boat. Rather hot day on Friday, but it cooled off in the evening. We have yet to have a fan day. John trimmed the rest of the bushes and Cindy & Lauren washed the front windows inside and out including the storm windows. Dong had gotten them dirty, inside and out, when he power washed the house.
Saturday was a busy day on Peaks Island. The girls went looking for yard sales - not too successful. Later came the highlight of the week, actually at 1030, with the beginning of the 5K road race with our own John participating. We don't remember his time, but he did well and we cheered him on as he passed the house. During the race Aunt Jeanne, Uncle Dick, Emma and her Mike arrived. They were here for lunch and then went on the Island house tour. The house tours are always very interesting and lots of fun, 5 houses. Cindy had to drive her suburban because the golf cart couldn't handle seven people, three stayed home. We weren't planning on a group this size, but we had a good time, They left on the 1700 ferry.
Sunday, John got the car up in line by 0630 (for the 0815 boat), he was second. That all worked fine and we saw them off. Super heavy fog to start the day out, couldn't even see the docks out in front. We have since found out it was a terrible drive home, taking 13 hours. Beware of Sundays in the summer. We decided to skip the 5th Maine breakfast and headed home and fixed our own before going to1000 Mass. We relaxed and caught up on things the rest of the day. Mom managed to get all the towels washed and put away and the sheets from one bed (now made). Dad doesn't know how she manages to get all these things done so fast.
That is it for now. Sorry to be so late.
Love, Mom & Dad
PS The house is 99.9 percent painted. Dad has to do some trim (not included in the painting) although Dong is going to do some high windows anyway. The house really looks good and we will send pictures if we figure out how to do it.
