Island Update Ending July 3, 2005

I am now in the process of catching up now that we seem to be able to get on line without waiting for what seems like hours. This is my second attempt because somehow I lost the first when I was just about completed. Anyway her goes:

We arrived back on Peaks on the 1930 boat, Wednesday, 29 June after spending the night with Mike. It rained the entire trip from heavy to really heavy, not a fun trip. We did have a couple of things to pick up in Kittery. By some quirk of fate we had no trouble finding the 2 stores we were looking for and finding what we needed. I guess that was the reward for driving for hours in the rain. Before going to the island we filled the van with things we had left in the old van to transport. This worked great and was one of the more sensible things we have done. We even unloaded everything before going to bed.

We woke up to fog and drizzle on Thursday so decided not to go to town. On Friday we were off on the 0815 to pick up the computer (not ready), register the golf card (succeeded), flag store in Gorham for a new flag and to turn in a very large number of torn, battered and faded flags, a couple more stops and back on the 1230 boat. Jeanne and Dick arrived on the 1630. We did manage to get in a game of Liverpool in the evening.

Saturday for Fair day at St. Christopher's Church and Mom worked there all day long. Not much else went on. On Sunday we went to 0815 Mass despite some mild objections from Aunt Jeanne. Uncle Dick and Dad spent some time at the 5th Maine putting neat new wheels on their table cart. Glenn, a friend of Aunt Jeanne and Uncle Dick as well as ours arrived in the late afternoon from of all places, Portland, Oregon. He came here for the 4th. This was his third visit for the holiday which is quite something considering the fact he is Canadian.

Hopefully I will be able to get on line and send this.

Love, Dad
