Another fast week seems to be over and we have one addition for last week. At last week's St. Christopher's Fair we won twice. A $10.00 certificate to Hannagan's and a $100.00 certificate to Plante's. That helps to make up for all these loosing years.
Monday we were up early to catch the 0815 boat in order to do some grocery shopping, get some money and do a few miscellaneous things. We pretty much did what we wanted and caught the 1215 boat back. Not too bad for us. On Tuesday, Aunt Jeanne and Uncle Dick arrived on the 1215 for our annual 4th of July get together. This year they were the only ones here. We did manage one Liverbool game (very long) and Mom won (very unusual).
Wednesday was a typical 4th of July day on Peaks. It started with the annual Clam Shell Race which we used to know what they did, but it seems to have changed and now we can't figure it out except it follows the same old route from the Lions Club down Centennial Street to the water and back to the Lions Club. It was fun to watch anyway. Then we had the parade of decorated vehicles and later made our annual 4th of July cake which, although we didn't have all our usual helpers, really turned out nice. In the evening, the city started the fireworks a half hour early because of the rain and I suppose the high winds so we watched from the inside which isn't nearly as much fun as on the porch. Millie also came down and joined us as she most often does. It was a fun day, but the weather did turn bad in the evening.
Thursday, Aunt Jeanne and Mom worked at the Blood Bank at the Lions Club. Uncle Dick and Dad went to town to pick up a battery for the lawn mower and run a bunch of errands like to 7 places. Amazingly, we got everything on Dad's list.(left of the 1145 & returned on the 1630) We brought back Haddock for supper. Delicious!
Aunt Jeanne and Uncle Dick left on the 1445 boat on Friday although they tried for the 1245, but there were way too many cars. Now that they have all sorts of new traffic regulations at the boat it is an unbelievable gridlock up there on these busy days at boat time. We also had terrific thunderstorms in the afternoon with heavy rain. Dad was docent for a couple hours.
Saturday Mom did gardening (she got the boat on the back porch railing ready to sail so to speak) and Dad scraped and painted the back porch railings and pillars. On Sunday we woke up to light rain which got harder when we left for 0815 Mass. We enjoyed the walk to church in the rain which is something you just can't do at home. Later we went to two open houses. One was the old store across from the school which had been made into 4 apartments. Now it is being made into 4 "luxury" condominiums which are 4 sizes and all distinctly different. Very interesting. Then we visited a normal open house of a small cottage which Mom thought was rather neat, but Dad didn't think much of. Later Diana came over to visit and then we just goofed off for the rest of the day and watched the fog come and go as it is still doing as evidenced by the fact we can see no lights in the distance.
Another exciting week has ended on Peaks.
Love, Mom and Dad
