Correction to last week: It's RED SOX not Red Socks. You know who caught
that in a hurry.
Monday Mom washed cloths, cleaned, baked, cleaned some more and baked
some more. As for me I painted, cleaned up the basement and did some window
work at the 5th. Exciting! Tuesday was a morning of getting misc. things
picked up and put away before company. Mom as you might expect, was out washing
windows and it was right chilly. We caught the 1115 (we planed on catching the
1200, but there wasn't any). We ran a few errands, always have those, and
then picked up the Dowds and Hardwicks at the airport around 1430. We
eventually caught the 1630 (with car) back to the island. Had Mom's delicious baked
haddock for supper and spent the rest of the day getting caught up.
On Wednesday we stayed on the island and having the car here we got to
tour the island in style. This was HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO DAD DAY. Thursday we
caught the 1000 and headed for Poland Spring to visit the original spring and
building where they started bottling water, rather interesting. No samples
though. Then it was off to lunch nearby and back to catch the 1630 boat. On the
way we picked up lobster for supper. Liverpool tonight, winners: Dad and
Laurie.
Friday we caught the 1000 again, this time to wander around Portland.
It took longer than we figured and we ended up catching the 1630 back. A
good day, but a bit tiring for the crew. Liverpool again tonight, Winners: Mo
and Laurie. Saturday was an island living day with a big bacon & egg breakfast
after which we wandered down to the boat ramp to watch them pull boats, that
is take them out of the water for the season. Lunch was on the porch and just
relaxing or walking up the street until the Harvest Supper at the 5th.
Liverpool again tonight, 3 games, everyone won but Mom.
On Sunday we were all off at 0745 for breakfast at the Lions Club. We
had to be there at 0800 to make sure we got potatoes. Excellent breakfast
for us all. Mass at 1000 followed by goodies in the Rectory. Again fun for all
including Mass for all. We ate all morning, but this group was ready to eat
again a bit after noon. It rained most of the afternoon and evening (.84").
Mom and I did go out with Paul (plumber Paul) and looked at 2 sizes of showers
to replace the one in the basement. This will be larger and an all one piece
molded type which will be put in over the winter.
And that is our exciting week. We plan on leaving here on the 23rd,
arriving home on the 24th. My stress test will be at 0730 tomorrow which means
we catch the 0615 boat. This was changed from noon which is okay because I
would just as soon get it over with early. I hate stress tests!
Love, Mom and Dad
