The week started out very windy, just like it ended last week, but as the day wore on it calmed down and by nightfall it was rather peaceful. We went to walk with Denise, but were late so we went by ourselves, ending up at the health clinic so Dad could get a cholesterol blood test. At 1300 we went to a meeting at the new senior center which turned out to be very informative and cleared up many misconceptions that had been floating around. Mom visited Marge after that. Yesterday, I forgot to announce that we took our flag down because of the wind. It did need some repairs that Mom took care of. We were off on the 1000 boat on Tuesday heading for LLBean so Mom could look for a coat. Mission was accomplished, plus we got a few other things. Then it was off to Brunswick for Fish and Chips (last of the season), bank for money to last until we get home, shoe store where Dad finally got a pair of shoes (the ones he has been looking for), BJs to pick up pictures and back to Peaks on the 1630 boat. Today was the end of the cruise ship season, but it really turned out to be a condominium ship as per article I sent everyone. What a way to live. On Wednesday, Dad was off on the 1000 boat with Mom following on the 1115. Aunt Jeanne and Uncle Dick met us and we retired to the Public Market for coffee before haircut time. After they got their haircut we went to Bull Feeney's Irish Pub in the Old Port. A rather interesting place with good food. We caught the 1630 back to Peaks to complete the day. The next few days have been rather routine making preparations to leave. Friday was a particularly beautiful day even though it was a little chilly which is normal for this time of year. Dong dropped by a couple times. The big event, at least for Dad, was removing the cover from the 5th Maine Regimental flag. It turned out to be a fairly easy task, thank goodness. On Saturday, Dong showed up with a huge batch of Pad Tai (sp) and a whole bunch of egg rolls. They made for a very tasty breakfast and lunch. We tried to get more done outside today because the rains are coming tomorrow. On Sunday the rains did come in the form of a mini nor'easter. Nice waves on the back shore. Dad was off to the 5th Maine before 0900 to be involved in the removal of the Regimental Flag from the wall for preservation. It was a very interesting process and took the two women working on it about 4 to 5 hours to complete. This is the reason the are not home yet! Fortunately Dad only had to perform a minor role during this period, but he was there all day long just in case. And that brings us to the end of another exciting week on Peaks. Baring any unforeseen problems we should be leaving this week after our flu shots on Wednesday. We will let you know our schedule for departure, etc., just as soon as we figure it out.
