WEATHER: It really is starting to get on the chilly side although today was a perfectly beautiful day with a bright sun all day long. Not like yesterday when it rained from early morning to night delivering some 1.37 inches of rain. The high for the week was 54 on Sunday (the rest of the week ranged from 48 to 50) and the low for the week was 34 on Tuesday (the rest of the week ranged from 35 to 41).
Sunday was rather restful. The highlight for the day was a baptism at St. Christopher's during mass. Very interesting and fun. Monday the cruise ship Brilliance of the Sea was back again arriving early and not leaving until about 2300. Beautiful day in the 40s with lots of wind (in other words it was cold out), but there was a pretty full moon.
On Tuesday, now that we are about to leave, I got the scanner working. We have now fixed 6 of the 8 broken things we had early this Peaks Island year. I also greased the golf carts for the winter. I guess if I had done that last spring it would have been for the summer. Wednesday was flu shot day which Mom and I both got. Then in the evening we went over and had dinner with Sharon and Kathy. Good meal and good company.
Thursday we got carried away and caught the 0815, breakfast at the Freeport Inn, then to LL Bean, Dexter Shoes for me, Navy Exchange (haircut and lunch at Subway), Commissary, Maine mall to pick up Mom's shoes and 1630 boat back to the island - long day and yes we were tired. The cruise ship Rotterdam came in before we left for town, but was gone when we came back. Most of these ships don't seem to stay long.
Friday we puttered around the house and put the old golf cart away for the winter. Saturday was a rainy, rainy day. I didn't do much other than catch up in the den. Mom spent lots of time baking things for the after mass goodies we have during the winter after noon mass on Sunday.
Regrettably the season is rapidly coming to an end. We have been nice and warm this October, but then we have been going through oil like crazy too. Other than getting back to where most of the family is and all the grandchildren are, we could hang in here for another month. We do quite well handling the pace up this way.
That is it for this week. See you guys bright and early on Friday for breakfast. Love, Dad
