Island Update Ending September 10, 2006

We seem to be starting with a normal week, that is, walking with Denise. It was a bit chilly this morning, like 50 degrees and will be colder tonight. This was Senior Lunch Day so we went to that and stopped to see Marge on the way home. After that it was time to get the house in order. We also visited a couple times with Dong. The day just flew by.

Tuesday we were off on the 0815 ferry to meet Mo and Laurie at the airport at 1033. Since we had time we ran a few errands - got to the airport by 1015 and they were already here. We found breakfast, but by the time we finished it was too late to get Haddock for supper and catch the 1215. We managed to catch the 1415 with Haddock - did some visiting after we got home - Mo and Dad went to the 5th Maine about a water problem and also put some tables out for the trash. Dong stopped in about 1915, as he does most every night, before going home. Liverpool at night - Mo won. Oh yes, we had Mom's baked haddock for supper - excellent as usual.

Wednesday found us up bright and early to catch the 0815 followed by the Mail Boat Cruise at 1000. Breakfast at McDonald's. Fun Trip. Lunch at Gilbert's, then caught the 1415 boat back to Peaks. Mom and Dad went to the first Secession/City meeting, mostly planning and mostly boring, but we would give the 1st round to the city. Yes -Liverpool tonight and the winners were Laurie and Dad.

Thursday was a busy day for one that was going to be a day of rest. Dong arrived in the morning with egg rolls and Pad Tai, both delicious as always. After lunch Denise had one of her teas at a surprise location so we dragged Mo and Laurie to that and we all had a great time. Then it was dinner at The Inn on Peaks Island which was quite nice. Only it and the Cockeyed Gull are now open in the evening. Then Mom and Dad had another meeting to go to about street addresses. It is amazing what strong feelings some people have. Anyway, it has to do with 911 and some street conflicts here on the island. For us it was really ho hum since it had to do with Centennial Street Rear, our dirt road and we don't really care what they decide to name it. More Liverpool tonight - Mo and Laurie won.

We were going to be off on the 0815 Friday morning to go to LL Bean, but decided on the 1000 since we were kind of tired from yesterday. We all had a successful trip to Bean's followed by a trip to Brunswick for fish and chips. That was followed by some Dairy Queen and a trip to the mill at Lisbon Falls where we couldn't find anything we had to have so we headed home catching the 1735. Since we had a late lunch we just had misc stuff for supper including popcorn. We did go out to share some of Dong's food with Millie. Yes, Liverpool again, only one game since we wee all tired - Mo won. Mom and Dad aren't doing too well.

Saturday was a stay at home day and we did just that. Dong showed up this morning so we all had a lively discussion at breakfast. We finally got to ride about the island - been too busy before. We also got to spend some time just relaxing on the porches - both back and front. Dinner was lobster followed by Liverpool with the winners being Dad and Laurie.

Just another run of the mill beautiful day today, Sunday. Breakfast, Mass at 1000, lunch on the porch, visits to the various shops on the island, another trip around the island, dinner and Liverpool - Laurie won again. We did watch the first half of the Redskins game but gave it up for Liverpool. We enjoyed the New England game much more.

And that is the week that was.

Love, Mom and Dad
