Island Update Ending September 21, 2002

WEATHER: What a great week. A little rain that didn't bother anything. Highs ranged from 80 to 65, lows from 55 to 69.

I left out last Saturday which consisted of Mom working in the garden and me in the yard doing like mowing, trimming, trimming hedges, pruning trees like the apple tree near the street, working in the basement and finally reaching the point of being pooped so I knocked off for the day. Sun was a funny day, on the verge of rain so I continued working in the basement. None of you will recognize the place when I'm done. Mom baked the better part of the day, cookies, brownies and banana bread. Getting ready for company. Mon I finished cleaning up the basement (pretty exciting), it rained early and the Carnival Triumph was here again.

Mo and Laurie arrived at the airport at 1106 Tue. We drove over to Bug Light Park, took pictures and went back to Gilbert's for lunch -- packed with 2 tour busses so we went and had fish and chips at the Public Market. After supper we played Liverpool as we did every night. Winners are summarized at the end.

Wed we walked around the island for the first time this year. We had lunch on the porch after which Mo and I test drove the golf cart into the basement. It fits! Thu we were off to town and went to the animal rehab place in Gray to see moose in particular. Stopped at the golf cart place for an oil filter and answers to some questions, lunch next door at a sports bar/pool hall (nice place though), visited the Worumbo Mill Outlet (a real outlet) where we got a blanket plus some material that was priced by the pound, like $.10 a pound. How could we refuse? We caught the 1735 back to the island.

Already we are to Fri where we caught the 0815 boat to have a stress echocardiogram (everyone went along) followed by a big breakfast at Becky's around 1100. Yes, we were all hungry.  After that it was to the old port to browse a bit and then home with a full cart from yesterday's trip to the mill outlet. Sat Mom baked in the AM. A blueberry pie plus a cake and brownies for the after church feed in the rectory. We had lunch again on the porch and lobster for dinner. We really had an ideal week all around.
