Here we go with Monday again. We went to bed last night with the fog horns blowing, but no obvious fog in sight and woke up with them still blowing. The difference was now there was fog, a ship underway blowing its deep throated whistle and just to add interest, thunder and lightening. Later on it all cleared up and by 0815 we were doling our Monday morning walk with Denise and friends. The rest of the day was quiet. This allowed us to recover from yesterday's pancake breakfast. This afternoon Mom went to a movie at the Community Center and Dad did some repairs at the 5th and also to some benches and chairs in the basement that go back to the 5th. Tuesday wasn't the greatest of days with fog, drizzle and probably a little rain off and on all day. There were also a few dry spells. Dad played Docent with lots and lots of people, very unusual for 1500-1700 on a Tuesday afternoon. Mom started hanging new curtains in the dining room. We woke up on Wednesday to dense fog, then some heavy rain followed by the fog taking over again. Nevertheless, we headed to town on the 1045, met Aunt Jeanne and Uncle Dick at the Market and then it was off to get Mom's haircut. Dad picked up a few things at the hardware store. We had lunch at a crazy place in South Portland that had been recommended by Blaine and Sheila next door. Everyone thought the food was great, but it wasn't Dad's kind of food. He had a breakfast sandwich instead. A quick grocery trip followed and back on the 1630 boat. Right after we got the groceries and stuff in the house we had a short downpour. Not bad timing al all. We were up and walking with Denise on Thursday morning. The group was right so we had a pretty good walk. After that we pretty much did things around the house like Mom put up more curtains in the dining room and Dad did some painting and stuff. It was a beautiful day, but it did get a bit worm. What a beautiful day Friday was. In the morning, first thing, Dong appeared with Pad Tie (sp). Dad was in the shower and Mom wasn't quite up yet. Anyway it made for a very good breakfast. The bulk of the day was spent by Mom cooking and by Dad mowing the lawn. He also trimmed the apple tree so he can more easily see up the street. Tim and Diane arrived on the 1515 with chowder and haddock for supper. Liverpool at night - Tim won. Saturday was another beautiful day. We kind of took it easy and just visited most of the day. Aunt Jeanne and Uncle Dick arrived on the 1630 boat. Tripoli at night. Sunday we were off to the 0815 Mass over Dad's objections because he wanted to be at the Lions Club at 0800 to be sure to get potatoes. That reasoning of course didn't get him anywhere. Anyway, we made it to breakfast at about 0930 - NO POTATOES!! While we were waiting for our meals at a picnic table one of the Lions came over with potatoes. Tim had brought some leftover potatoes from home and gotten the Lions to heat them up. We rode around the island after breakfast in the golf cart, Mom, Dad and Aunt Jeanne. We were all sitting on the front porch when up showed Diana, her granddaughter and her great granddaughter. Then Millie showed up, so we had quite a confab going on the porch. We sort of goofed off the rest of the day until supper time when Tim and Diane took us all to dinner at the Inn's Pub. We had a pretty good meal, much to much to eat, but the place is super noisy. The Pub is where they had originally advertised the hardware store would be although we all know that wasn't going to happen. Liverpool at night, Dad won. How different that game is with 6 people playing with 3 decks of cards. Love, Mom and Dad |
