Island Update Ending September 7, 2002

Weather: Rather nice this week: high 78 on Fri, low 50 on Sunday. We also had some ,59" rain Tue and into the evening.

We started out Sunday with an 0800 breakfast at the Lions Club which consisted of pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage and potatoes. Much better than the 5th Maine. It was just us plus Jeanne and Dick, Tim and Diane slept in. For dinner Tim treated us at the Fore Street where Mom and I both had delicious pork roast and shared an equally delicious and rich desert plus we had wine. Monday was a day off so we worked around the house. Mom tangled with some ants, the biting kind, in a new garden she was building so she called it a day. We were treated to lobster that night although Mom did all the work.

Tuesday, Tim, Diane and the dog departed on the 1000 boat (boat scheduled changed this date). We generally had fog, drizzle and rain all day so Uncle Dick and I worked to rearrange the basement. On Wednesday Dick and I traced electric circuits at the 5th Maine for a couple hours. In the evening we went to the harness races at Scarborough Downs for dinner and the races. This was Jeanne and Dick's treat. You keep your dinner table, all of which are in full view of the track with a TV, for the whole evening. We left after the 8th race to catch the boat. Mom bet on 6 races and won $7.60 on one of them.

Thursday was another trace the circuits day and clean the basement. Jeanne and Dick departed on Fri. After they left I worked in the basement, mowed the lawn and caught up on paperwork. Sat was a sleep late day, like 0830, and I worked on the upstairs porch and on the stained glass window.

Now that there are just the 2 of us for a week we can relax except that there are so many things to be done that we are both at one thing or another all day long.

That is it from the North country for this week. Love, Dad
